The Popsicle

After lunch today we went outside to have our first popsicle of the summer. Avery was determined to hold and eat her popsicle without help from me.
This is how she began licking the popsicle. (yes, the wind was blowing as usual up here)
Then when it started dripping she began carrying it upside down so it wouldn't get on her fingers. She licked it this way for a while.... actually a long while. Until....
SPLAT! Her popsicle started melting before she could eat all of it and the majority fell to the ground (which made a good place to play in later... or so she seemed to think)
The rest ended up falling off too before she could eat it, but she seemed to enjoy doing it herself. We watered the flowers after we ate the popsicle so along with the lasagna from lunch and popsicle on her clothes, they were wet when we went back in the house. So fun!

Cowboy Artists

This past week, the 6666 ranch hosted the Cowboy Artists of America Trailride. Famous artists camped on the ranch and participated in some of the branding that the cowboys did. They took pictures the whole time, so we are hoping that one of them will decide to paint one and we'll see it in a few years. We all got to eat with them from the chuckwagon Thursday night. It was so interesting to visit with the artists and their wives. Casey got a book with a page on each artist that they personally signed during the dinner. I was so mad at myself because I forgot my camera, so the only pictures I have are ones that I got from my friend Shawna. Her little boy, Hazen, is Avery's best bud up here. They ran around playing and amused everyone.
This is called the flap (although I think it just looks like a tent??). The chuckwagon is underneath it. It's amazing what all the cook can make in this outdoor kitchen. We had steak, chicken, mac-n-cheese, beans, salad, spinach, bread, and pineapple upside down cake.
Pulling on the rope... I just knew it was going to fall down any minute!
Hazen decided to play peek-a-boo under Red Stegall's legs!
Yes, this is Hazen laying a big kiss on Avery as she clings to Casey's let. It's cute now, but Casey doesn't think it will be so funny when they are 16!

Western Heritage

We had a whirlwind of a weekend in Abilene for the Western Heritage Classic which is a ranch rodeo that has all sorts of other events including a horse show, parade, shopping, and lots of food. Casey showed his horse on Thursday and Friday which left the rest of the weekend for us to hang out with friends and family. We even got to be in town for Mother's day! I enjoyed the day with my wonderful mom and own daughter. It is such a joy and blessing to be Avery's mother. Here are a few pictures from our busy weekend.
This is the only picture that I got with Avery on mother's day. Can you tell that she would rather be playing than taking a picture??
My wonderful husband.
My mom with all her kids on mother's day.
Avery and dad at the parade. Her cheeks are so red from the 100 plus temperature.
Munchkin and her Papa.
Nona, Avery, and Aunt Karla sweating out the heat.
Avery was sitting with Pop until she saw kids throwing candy from a float and then she was running after it.
My nephew Boone and us.
Helping out his Uncle Casey by holding the lead rope.
Being silly during the horse show.
Avery is playing with our dog Kate, who was hanging out in the trailer.
Watching the rodeo. She loved the bucking horses.
Avery's "cheese" face!
So I just now realized that there are no actual pictures of horses on this post. I was using the video camera when Casey showed his horse so I guess I didn't get a picture of him. Anyways, I had this one from the parade and thought it was funny of the mini horse and wagon!! Enjoy!

Random Post

This is a random posting with random pictures mostly of Avery over the past month. She is so funny and does the silliest things around the house. I usually try to catch them on the camera for laughs. Enjoy!
She had to have her hair wrapped up like mom's after a shower! Such a girl.
Not sure how she managed to get her babydoll stroller in the chair and sit it it without falling off??We had a big storm with hail, tornados nearby, and lots of rain. Afterwards, there was a beautiful rainbow outside our house.
It's hard to see, but you could see the whole arch and both sides down to the ground of the rainbow.
Testing out her froggy mud boots after the rain. She loves these boots!
Helping make cookies. Scooping, stirring, and spilling the flour in her lap.Tasting the flour... she wasn't impressed.
Modeling Dad's cowboy hat.
Yes, she is wearing a swimsuit (wim-wuit) and driving her car around the house.
